As you might know, “During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in the US and around the world. With their Mo’s, these men raise vital awareness and funds for men’s health issues, specifically prostate and testicular cancer initiatives.” (Movember website) I first started celebrating Movember in Barcelona, Spain in 2010, and last night, I had the pleasure to attend the annual Movember Gala Parté in L.A.
The event was held at Avalon in Hollywood and was very well organized with a DJ, best & worst “Mo” contests, actually referred to as the “Ultimate Mo” and the “Lame Mo” prizes, and a great, though admittedly cheesy band, Wayward Sons, playing cover songs from the likes of Journey, Aerosmith, Queen and Styx. You could also get free t-shirts printed then and there. I especially loved the group of men there sporting turtlenecks, and there was just tons of fabulous mo overall. Plus, there’s nothing better than having a swell time for an equally splendid cause.

Los Angeles Unveiled 
[…] 4. The Movember Gala Parté – Movember has really taken in the last 5 years all around the world, and going strong! This year’s Los Angeles grand finale event was held at Avalon in Hollywood. Ok, ok, not on the streets, but for a more traditional party, this is my favorite, since it’s all for charity to fight against prostate cancer, and so cleverly done, rallying men of all ages to grow that mo each November.
