Favorite Yelp Reviews for L.A.

So, you may have seen my list of favorite places to eat in Santa Monica. This is an extension of that to the rest of L.A using my already existing Yelp Reviews.

The restaurants, cafes and bars below aren’t in any particular order YET. Just places I’ve been to and felt compelled to review on Yelp– most of these reviews are positive!

Hope this is useful to you! Make sure to keep checking back as I’ll be updating this post with more reviews as they come along.

Eventually… I’ll be able to comment more specifically regarding food genre, etc. I’d like to write about my favorite ice cream and gelato places, favorite taco trucks, diners, coffee shops, and burger joints.

But for now, enjoy these reviews and the instagrams!

A Food Affair – Los Angeles (S. Robertson) 5 STARS “I came here for an intimate, birthday dinner and it was perfect. The food was outstanding… and so was dessert. I had the sauteed mushrooms and french onion soup, the duck and the rib eye. For dessert we had a lemoncello cake and chocolate mouse. There is no initial corkage fee, so we brought and shared a lovely Rioja that went well with most of our meal.”

Andante Coffee Roaster – Fairfax District, L.A. 3 STARS “I was happy to find this place after opting out of the expensive taco place nearby, Escuela Taqueria, which I’ll admit looked really good, but I don’t really like paying over $7 per taco. It just feels wrong.”… “Anyway, the breakfast burrito at Andante was $6 and easier to takeaway, which I wanted, so it was a no-brainer. The verdict? It was a very memorable breakfast burrito!”

Beer Belly – Koreatown, L.A. 4 STARS “This is my favorite place in K-town. Great gastropub.”

Bestia – Arts District, DTLA 5 STARS “I love this place for the location, ambience and food. Everything I tried was fantastic, except for the elusive purple kale salad…”

Bottega Louie – DTLA 4 STARS “There’s nothing not to like about this place– historic building, great food & drink, and nice, busy ambience. I was in a bit of a hurry, and was hoping there would be easy and convenient take-out options and there were– and lots of them including healthy salads and juices! So, you can go in a group, on a date or solo. This time, I actually walked out with a varied box of macarons and a latte, which hit the spot. They use  intelligentsia coffee!”

Burger Lounge – Santa Monica, CA 4 STARS “The burgers here are super healthy and the staff is always really helpful and friendly, too!”

Little Bear – Arts District, DTLA 4 STARS “I went for brunch one day and ended up having the waffle burger and a bloody Mary. Needless to say, it was a good day!”

Millions of Milkshakes – West Hollywood 3 STARS “Not sure why this place gets such low reviews. Is the name misleading? Perhaps. But, if I wasn’t so health conscious I would come here every day and indulge, I swear! The shakes are soooo good and the prices are reasonable. That said, most of the time I’m in the mood for a smoothie, I’ll probably head to Nekter nearby– again, just because those are healthier.”

Muddy Leak – Culver City 5 STARS “This is an instant favorite. We had several cocktails, which were outstanding, the risotto, chanterelle, scallops and butterscotch panna cotta for dessert were all superb offerings! We also had the best seat in the house, or so it seemed. Their patio is cozy and romantic.”

Perch – DTLA 4 STARS “I’ve only had drinks here, but you can’t go wrong with the ambience and views. Sorry I can’t say anything about the food, but I’m giving it 4 stars because it’s by far my favorite rooftop in Downtown.

Public School 612 – DTLA 4 STARS “I cam”e here as part of a work event. The bar section is a bit divey, which I like, and they seem to have a larger sit down space, as well. Their happy hour specials were especially memorable: tacos, street dogs, nachos, truffle fries. Delish. In true gastropub style they’ve got all kinds of craft beer on the menu, and cocktails, too. Service was a tad slow at the bar, but the staff is friendly. If I lived or worked in downtown more often, I’d probably be a regular. Plus, the name rocks! We played darts. So should you! Enjoy!”

Son of a Gun – Los Angeles (3rd Street & La Cienega-ish) 4 STARS “Great ambience. Good food. A bit expensive for the portions, but I can’t complain about it– my seared octopus salad and the Italian burger I had for dessert were amazing. The wine was good, too, but again, a tad expensive…”
